An African Winter
For the Autumn Winter 2017/2018 collection, we reimagined what having a proper winter in Africa would feel and look like.
We were inspired by the traditional way of wearing garments in Africa especially in Ghana through wrapping the garments around one’s body. This to us signified a sense of keeping the body warm.
Usually winter is a season characterised by mute and neutral colours, thus we drew inspiration from the vibrant and warm colours fond in an African setting; from the warm colours emitted during the sunset to the vegetation and the earth.
We went for a feminine silhouette which was modern and streamlined and at the same time structured and fluid.
We employed the use of textured fabrics like boucle and boiled wool to enhance the richness of the collection.
